On April 28, Danish Ambassador to China, Morten A. J. Krog, along with a business delegation, visited Shandong Heavy Industry Group for business exchanges, accompanied by Lin Haibin, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and member of the Party Committee. Wang Zhijian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, attended the meeting and discussions.
Ambassador Krog expressed his gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Province and Shandong Heavy Industry Group for their warm reception and spoke highly of the group's development achievements. He noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and China. Denmark attaches great importance to the Chinese market, and many Danish companies, adhering to the philosophy of "In China, for China," have long been rooted in China, benefiting from the dividends of the country's 40 years of rapid development. Denmark and China share common aspirations and directions for economic and trade development, hoping to enhance friendship and deepen mutual trust with China through trade and diplomacy. Denmark can provide professional and innovative integrated solutions for energy transition. Danish companies have a high degree of alignment and strong complementarity with Shandong Heavy Industry in the industrial chain. Ambassador Krog expressed hope to establish a mutually beneficial partnership with Shandong Heavy Industry, deepen win-win cooperation across the industrial chain, and jointly lead the global energy transition.
Wang Zhijian warmly welcomed Ambassador Krog and his delegation on their first visit to Shandong Heavy Industry and provided an overview of the group. He stated that Shandong Heavy Industry is a leading, world-class comprehensive high-end equipment multinational group in China, with six major business sectors, including power systems and commercial vehicles. Over the years, the group has established global technology innovation centers in Europe and maintained close product and technology cooperation with European companies, including a solid foundation for collaboration with Danish companies. Europe is also a key strategic market for Shandong Heavy Industry, with its subsidiary Zhongtong Bus enjoying a good reputation in Denmark. The rapid development of China's new energy industry has created vast market opportunities. There is significant room for cooperation between Shandong Heavy Industry and Danish companies in the energy transition and the implementation of the "dual carbon" strategy. Wang expressed hope for enhanced technical exchanges and cooperation between the two sides through initiatives such as Technology Open Days, leading to fruitful outcomes and long-term partnerships.
During the meeting, the Danish business delegation introduced their respective companies, and the two sides engaged in friendly discussions regarding areas of potential cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Danish Embassy Commercial Counselor Jeppe Høier, Danish Embassy Commercial Officer Chen Zhaohui, and Zhang Gengsheng, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Heavy Industry Group and member of the Party Committee.
